A Little About Myself

I paint and teach oil painting in SE industrial Portland Oregon. I studied with Master painter Jan Saether for many years, picking up old master skills which I love to teach to others. I want to help others enjoy the journey of classical painting. It's a great basis for all forms of painting.

Once, I painted only old style paintings, often spending 2 or 3 years on a painting. Now I may do a painting in under an hour alla prima style. I enjoy the feel of palette knifing oil paint into an imaginary landscape, as much as I love fanning a smooth transitional realistic painting with meticulous detail.
